5 New Movies We Cannot Wait to See

The leaves are starting to fall, the pumpkins are getting fat, and those darker nights are drawing in. This is the best time of year for indulging in the buttery scent of popcorn and cosying up on cinema dates. There are a ton of great movies getting ready to launch and we have already whittled down our shortlist. Here are five fabulous movies that we simply cannot wait to see…

Little Women

Greta Gerwig, Emma Watson, Meryl Streep and Saoirse Ronan – we are chomping at the bit to see Greta’s adaptation of everyone’s favourite children’s book. Following the lives of four sisters after the Civil War, we know this one is going to be a Christmas miracle come true. Greta Gerwig has already caused audiences to swoon both with her onscreen lovability and last years Oscar nominee Ladybird. Expect epic performances, great costumes, and wonderfully sharp wit.

Star Wars; The Rise of Skywalker

Rey is back and the trailer for the new Star Wars movie is more than tempting – especially by its hints that our girl Rey is looking to the dark side. To be honest, with Adam Driver on the other side, who wouldn’t be considering it. The finale in the trilogy offering from J.J Abrams, we are expecting jaw-dropping visuals, epic effects, and the battle to end all battles. Carrie Fisher, you will be missed.

Marriage Story

Noah Baumbach is the master of crafting movies that bring out equal measure compassion and discomfort and we expect the close to the bone Marriage Story to be no different. A stellar line up includes our beloved Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Meryl Streep and the narrative follows a couple who are gruelling through a divorce. Great scripts, amazing acting, and exceptional direction sketch out a story that will push all the buttons.

Joker

Who doesn’t love Joaquin Phoenix taking on the heavyweight role of one of DC’s most notorious bad guys? Joker tackles the backstory of Batman’s nemesis, taking us through the origins of what turned the Joker from failed comedic standup to superhero villain. Phoenix looks absolutely psychotic in the part and we are on the edge of our seats waiting to see it.

Cats

A Broadway smash musical for the big screen – its either going to be grand or flinch worthy fun judging by the costumes. Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson star alongside James Corden and the magic behind the camera comes from Les Miserables director Tom Hooper. We don’t know what to think, all we know is that we can’t wait to see how it plays out.
