All The Big Cinematic Happenings of 2020

2019 was a glorious year for catching all the action on the big screen. We saw the return of Star Wars for its final Kylo Ren fling, Greta Gerwig direct the childhood classic of Little Women, Joaquin Phoenix blow everyone away in Joker, and Frozen II have everyone singing those hits at the top of their lungs. It’s been a solid year for cinema. As we hurtle towards 2020, we take a look at what silver screen greats will be welcoming us to a whole new decade…

Jojo Rabbit

Get ready for a bonkers satirical approach to Nazi Germany to kick off the new year. It seems that 2020 is going to be about going big or going home. Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Scarlet Johansson, Alfie Allen and Rebel Wilson, a young German boy’s world turns topsy turvy when he realizes his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in the attic. A zany approach on blind nationalism, Jojo Rabbit is geared up for all the awards.

Legally Blonde 3

It's been twenty years since Elle Woods first hit our screens and charmed us all senseless. Now, Reese Witherspoon is back for her third round as the loveable lawyer. Rumor has it that the whole creative team will be coming back together to bring the beloved Legally Blonde into its final chapter of what is sure to be a heartwarming trilogy.

The Personal History of David Copperfield

Hilarious and striking, Armando Iannucci brings his heady irreverent sense of humor to Dickens’s David Copperfield. Starring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, and Gwendoline Christie, you can expect humor doled out in full force and a version of Victorian England as you have never seen it before.

Birds of Prey

Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn in her own spinoff blockbuster as she teams up with fan faves Black Canary, Huntress, and Detective Renee Montoya. Expect plenty of feminist power, incredible costumes, and Comicon fodder for years to come. We can’t wait.

The Witches

Just in time for Halloween, Roald Dahls hit is being remade into what is expected to be an absolute blockbuster. Anne Hathaway is reported to be playing the Grand High Witch and has some serious shoes to fill after Anjelica Houston terrified a generation of kids back in the early 90’s.

Dune

Following in the footsteps of Jodorowsky and David Lynch is no simple feat but let's see what Denis Villeneuve can do with Frank Herbert’s epic space opera. This is going to be a massive challenge and we are excited to see how this modern remake is going to play out on the big screen. There’s an impressive line-up paving the way with the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson involved, but only time will tell if it’s a worthy contender.
